​​​What is the Right to Information?​


The Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI), provides the community with an open and transparent access to information about the Public Safety Business Agency’s services and activities while recognising the need to provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy.

The Public Safety Business Agency processes right to information requests for the following agencies:

  • Inspector-General Emergency Management

Our disclosure log provides information in response to applications seeking non-personal information under the Right to Information Act 2009. This contains a summary of the information requested and, where possible, a link to the information released.

​Apply for Information

You can make a Right to Information application (RTI) for information the Agency may hold. If you are seeking access to your own personal information, you can apply under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).

If you are seeking access to non-personal information not available in our Publication Scheme or Disclosure Log, you should apply under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act).

Under the RTI and IP Acts, you can only apply to access or amend documents. These processes cannot be used to ask for general information or for answers to your questions.

Correct personal information

You may apply to amend documents containing personal information you believe to be inaccurate, misleading, out of date or incomplete. To apply to amend your personal information, download and complete the Information Privacy Personal Information Amendment Application​. There is no application fee but you will need to provide evidence of your identity (e.g. a certified copy of your driver licence).   Continue »
